Faculty and Staff Email Accounts
All faculty and staff are provided an email account with an @uml.edu suffix. The service includes automatic backups of mail stored on our servers, support for secure protocols for sending and retrieving mail, as well as extensive anti-virus and spam-filtering. New employees should fill out the Access Services form. Employees are responsible for checking their email on a regular basis as UMass Lowell sends official communications via email. Various job aids are available to help you configure your email client and get the most out of email.

Whitelist Requests
If you are noticing university-related messages showing up in your daily UML Spam Digest, which means they have been placed in your personal quarantine area, you may request to have the email address, domain or sub-domain “whitelisted." When an email address or domain/sub-domain is whitelisted, messages will be immediately delivered to your mailbox after it is scanned for viruses. The types of messages that may be inadvertently quarantined include newsletters, listserv messages and medical digests. These messages simulate spam with special tags and therefore appear as spam to the spam filters.
Although we can not whitelist messages from the major Internet Service Providers (ISP) like Comcast, Yahoo, Verizon, MSN and AOL since they are constantly targeted by spammers, we will honor legitimate requests providing they pertain to university-related business.
Submit a whitelist request and be sure to indicate the email address, domain or sub-domain you wish to include in our whitelist tables. Please allow 24 hours to complete the request.
