Description:

The Minority Nurse Recruiter assists the Pre-Entry Coordinator with recruitment of middle school and high school students into nursing and 4-year educational preparation at UML.

Part Time position - 4 hours/week during Academic Year; 10 hours/week during summer 6-weeks of pre-entry College Prep and Young Scholars Programs. This position is grant funded and dependent on continued funding.

Examples of Duties:
1. Assist the "Bring Diversity to Nursing" Pre-Entry Coordinator by:
• Recruiting middle school and high school students into nursing and 4-year educational preparation at UML.
• Planning programs and coordinating activities with the Young Scholars, Teen Achievers and College Prep Program.
• Planning and developing various educational and promotional materials for middle-school and high-school pre-entry recruitment after-school programs. 
• Participating in onsite weekly or biweekly Lawrence and Lowell High School admissions recruitment sessions and Annual Career Fairs.

2. Promote the University’s commitment to customer service by:
• Building effective partnerships with co-workers throughout the University by freely sharing appropriate information and providing assistance when needed.
• Ensuring optimum service to all internal and external partners in response to all requests for service and information.
• Maintaining an environment that is welcoming to persons of all backgrounds, nationalities, and roles.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• BS in Nursing
• Active Massachusetts RN license and minimum 2 years of full-time nursing experience
• Bilingual skills necessary preferably Khmer and strong English proficiency
• Demonstrated understanding of the importance of cultural competency in health care delivery.
• Experience working with middle/high school or community college students in a teaching or school health setting preferred. 
• Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
• Ability to travel locally.
