General Summary (Purpose) of Position
A tenure-track faculty position in Biophysics is available, starting September 2009, at the Assistant Professor level or higher, to spearhead multi-disciplinary bioengineering & biomedical research. With demonstrated experience, an appointment at a more senior level will be considered. . As one of three new faculty positions to be filled in a Ph.D. granting academic program the successful candidate would complement and enhance the department’s on-going research efforts in terahertz imaging, photonics, lasers, nanoscience, advanced materials and radiation detection, as well as develop research programs in bioengineering applications.

Salary commensurate with experience

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Earned Doctorate in Physics or related field.
• Demonstrated ability teaching undergraduate and graduate physics curricula.
• Outstanding record of research in the field of biophysics or soft condensed matter.
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
• Publications documenting research activity in scholarly journals.
• Ability and commitment to work with diverse student and faculty population.
