A video with a clever twist captured the spirit, as well as 61 percent of the votes, and was named the winner of the 2008 Capture the Spirit Video Contest. Razmig Arabian of Watertown wrote, directed, edited and starred in a video featuring Rowdy the River Hawk.

UMass Lowell Professor Regina Panasuk was one of six faculty members from across the UMass system to receive a Public Service Award from UMass President Jack Wilson last week in Boston.

The Sloan Consortium, a nonprofit organization that works with education providers, recently named UMass Lowell's online continuing studies graduate program in Behavioral Intervention in Autism as the 2008 winner of the Most Outstanding Online Teaching and Learning Program in the nation.
